IoT Impasse

By |2023-09-14T10:31:55+05:30September 4, 2018|Blogs, IoT|Comments Off on IoT Impasse

IoT Impasse have to be surpassed by the addressing the challenges that comes along the transformation. My last article created so much of a hullabaloo across the board and I was really overwhelmed by the response. Companies which felt the pinch of my pitch wrote directly to me saying how much they regret burning their fingers. If only they could have put in a lot more effort in knowing what the customer wanted, they could have saved a lot of money, and possibly made a lot more. I have never professed to be a technical or technology expert but instead, a good marketer and marketing expert in a specialised field of IOT, Smart Cities, etc. Marketing has more to do [...]

The Impact of 5G on the Global Industries

By |2018-09-03T15:30:44+05:30September 3, 2018|Blogs, Featured, Wireless|Comments Off on The Impact of 5G on the Global Industries

5G is the next technological revolution which the world is going to witness with the impact it will have on the economy, industries and you. The industry is in the next stage of the 5G technological revolution, building a ubiquitous wireless network that will integrate the data collection and computation with billions of devices. This data analytics will provide us with unprecedented insights and abilities that will determine what we do and how we do it. 5G isn't just a network, but it is a technological paradigm shift, akin to the change of typewriter to the computer. 5G will soon be the underlying fabric of an entire ecosystem of fully connected intelligent sensors and devices. 5G is capable of overhauling [...]

Mainframe Foolishness

By |2018-08-31T15:30:18+05:30August 31, 2018|Blogs, IoT, Technology|Comments Off on Mainframe Foolishness

Anybody who is a somebody in IoT believes that they have the ultimate solution for solving world problems. However, when you look at the scenario today, companies are confused and simply unable to sustain their viral growth. Major league companies have bought smaller IoT players in the last few years and are now shelving their plans or are shutting these down completely. Most companies are unable to sustain their product lines due to non-integration or due to a complete mismatch in the portfolio. These behemoths are letting go of their acquisitions. A few decades ago, the IT industry came up with a fantastic innovation called the ‘Mainframe’ but couldn't sustain it, since the market wasn't mature enough. The need of [...]

Fred Flintstone’s IoT Car

By |2023-09-14T10:31:54+05:30August 28, 2018|Blogs, IoT|Comments Off on Fred Flintstone’s IoT Car

In order to drive the Flintstones car, we need to fit in a steering wheel, an engine, brakes, and various other integral components to get the car drivable. Today our IoT Infrastructure is like exactly that. The end consumer has a Thing or a Device and to make that into an IoT connected device he needs to have an Internet connection, a Wifi, Integrated Hub, Sensors, Cloud, etc. To further explain this here is an example - Why should a customer invest into diverse components for making his simple $20 bulb ‘Thing’ work through automation? Which defies logic. This unnecessary investment into diverse components just to get his $20 bulb to come on through another device makes no practical sense [...]

IoT Security Faux Pas

By |2023-09-14T10:31:52+05:30August 27, 2018|Blogs, IoT|Comments Off on IoT Security Faux Pas

Last week the Mirai Botnet attack on the DYN spawned thousands of articles which exposed the venerability of millions of connected devices. The Internet of Things has never faced this big a challenge before. The answer lies in isolating the wifi network, changing passwords very frequently, dynamic IP addresses, creating a private VPN network, etc. are few of the instant solutions that could be offered. The morale of the customer had already been very low and with the recent attack has reached the pits. For the industry to stave off any further attacks of crashing the entire IoT industry, the industry leaders need to come together to create this first cohesive IoT Protocol Standardisation which I had mentioned in my [...]

Advancements in 5G

By |2018-08-21T15:30:36+05:30August 21, 2018|Blogs, Featured, Technology, Wireless|Comments Off on Advancements in 5G

The Advancements of an Upcoming Technology - "5G." The International Telecommunications Union or ITU the Geneva-based a United Nations body that governs issues concerning information and telecommunication technologies has said:  2020 will be the target year for completing the international standardisation of 5G technologies. It will pave the way for its mass adoption of next-generation 5G services promised to deliver not just faster phones and video but also connected cars and Internet-connected industrial senses over the next decade. 5G offers massive potential for both industry and the consumers with the prospect of being considerably faster than any of the existing technologies. 5G holds the promise of application with the socio-economic value, leading to a "hyper-connected society" in which smartphones will [...]

Common Sense to IoT

By |2023-09-14T10:31:51+05:30August 20, 2018|Blogs, IoT|Comments Off on Common Sense to IoT

Even though the IoT Platform is providing ease and efficiency in our day to day usage of ‘Things’ but for it to transform itself into a viable solution may take another 10+ years. A simple example here is, CFL bulbs have been replaced by the LED bulbs. But the moment it became a connected IoT device it became highly unviable. Now that it has become a connected device, it needs a hub, a communicating media, a powered device, a security infrastructure, etc.… Why would a consumer want to switch over his simple bulb to a high-end smart solution? When the simple solution is to power on the device using simple switch! Since all the IoT devices have to be connected [...]

5G The Next Wave of Wireless

By |2023-09-14T10:31:50+05:30August 18, 2018|Blogs, Featured, Technology, Wireless|Comments Off on 5G The Next Wave of Wireless

An introduction to the 5G era which is the next big technological revolution that will transform the Economy, and You. The new 5G standard is all geared up to accelerate the 'Wireless Speeds,' integrate the 'Internet of Things,' and drive competition. Introduction to 5G: The industry is set on a race to build the "Fiber in the Sky." The next-gen mobile standard called the 5G - The fifth generation technology is poised to disrupt and create a new platform that is faster, agile than the 4G's state-of-the-art also known as the LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks. However, the 5G is expected to debut across the globe in the next two years time. It is the newest in the continuum of [...]

IoT Protocol Standardisation

By |2023-09-14T10:31:48+05:30August 17, 2018|Blogs, IoT|Comments Off on IoT Protocol Standardisation

Further to my last article about the various challenges faced by the Internet of Things (IoT) Industry we have to arrive basic consensus with certain critical issues. First and foremost, we need to address the wireless IoT network protocol issues. There are more than 20 plus IoT network protocols like Bluetooth, ZigBee, Z-Wave, NB-IoT, RFID, WIFI, LoRaWAN, etc. confounding the issues. The Internet Consortium which is agreeable across the globe represented by various manufacturers of such devices should be formed. The protocol which is easily implementable across the board should be standardised. Once the industry agrees on this single protocol the OEM/ ODM manufacturers of IoT gateways should immediately shift over to this single protocol. Once the Industry leaders start [...]

Achilles Heel of Internet of Things(IoT)

By |2018-08-14T16:50:28+05:30August 14, 2018|Blogs, IoT|1 Comment

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a disconnected reality. There are thousands of organization across the world racing towards providing this unrealistic platform. The two main problems associated with IoT is, the security and finding the right customer. Security can be addressed through technology but the customer cannot be addressed without a proper solution. A smart plug is an expensive replacement from a regular plug. A customer does not see value in replacing his existing conventional plug with a smart plug as the cost of replacement to a smart plug does not add-up. Similarly installing an IoT hub in all middle-class homes doesn’t ease the burden of investment on the householder. Healthcare or Transportation industries need to have an enhance infrastructure [...]
